ETA: One more. Faster isn't better if you are faster at it. IPhone OSK is faster for you, great. Dvorak is faster for trained people. Good luck selling that. Faster is not better. There are people faster on T9 than others on QWERTY. A far cry from "better".
While I agree it's mostly a preference, I would also say it depends on the use case too. A capacitive screen trying to hit buttons in say a program ran in Easy Debian would not be fun no matter what preference you have.
