I had to get a new N900 since my old one got stolen and I'm now trying to get back everything I had also wrt the software, but I find I can no longer tweak the browser microB to my liking.
With my previous N900 and back when the OS was still PR1.0, I was able to follow the
location bar tricks in the wiki
successfully. Typing in
about
:config
first warns that changing the configuration might void the guarantee, but previously I was then able to edit the fields that show up there. Now no longer - I only can look at them. Also typing in a full replacement command, e.g. in my case
Code:
about
:config?prefname=keyword.URL&prefvalue=http%3A%2F%2Fyubnub.org/parser/parse%3fcommand%3d
does not do anything.
Does anyone have a similar problem? (I haven't found any postings suggesting so.) Is this a new "feature" of PR1.2? Is this a branding issue? Does anyone know a workaround? Can root edit the configuration, and how would one do it? I couldn't locate any file where the settings would be stored.
EDIT: I tried again today, and this time there was no warning about voiding the guarantee, and clicking on the desired field I could now got the preset value in the location bar, where I could edit it.
I don't know why all of a sudden it's possible, and why yesterday it wouldn't let me...
Still would like to hear if somebody else had similar experiences.
