There is an app called Showtime thats has built in tv guide and you can use it to record Sky programes on your + box but it uses the txt service. Could be worth a look if its important to you.
I have used the webbased manager on the N900 and its not that painfull and works. Remember you need to swipe from the left hand side of the browser screen to get a curser which works better.
