Yes, the processor information is "v7l" and not "v71". At least that character looks more like an "l" than a "1".

Smooth keys or the rough texture feel?
I really cannot tell. Since this is the only N900 I have ever seen in real life, I dunno which it is.

I bought it in February as used, AFAIK it was bought as new back in December.
Well, smooth texture is as plain as that. It just feels smooth overall, just like a normal keypad or any other phone. The rough texture feels exactly like a rough texture, it has a kinda dusty feel to it.

Actually, a better way of describing is this, if it feels like a standard keyboard on a PC, then it's smooth. Otherwise, if it feels like a Razor or Logitech gaming mouse with the rough texture surface on them, then it's the rough texture one.

I use to have Old N900 which i brought in gray market which have soft keyboard. Few days back i exchanged it with Indian Version.

Great, now i'm pretty much confirmed!

Ok thanks to everyone for all your replies, now i know there really is a difference to the 2 types of N900. It seems the board version really has something to do with most of the problems that some people have, apparently theirs were the old version and had a few problems here and there.......as i do now with my current N900 with the smooth keyboard, whereas when i still had my N900 with the rough keyboard, it worked like a charm. Right now, i'm experiencing all sorts of problems, like a faster battery drain, whereas this never happened to my previous N900, even though i use the same setup and installed the same list of apps.

I think we can investigate this further and find out what the real differences between the boards are, and whether this really affects the phone itself overall.....
