That did the trick! Had two different python 2.5 dbus packages that were to blame. All my python based apps seem to be just dandy once again!

To all the n00bs out there: Don't be like me and run random commands you see on the forums as root unless you like to re-flash or spend your Sunday picking through apt-get dependency failures.
