Im confused here.. what would be the different between pushing a button on my screen.. or just tapping the top left area of the screen to get the normal status bar/menu?

BTW: THANK YOU

Yes, Automatic Screen Rotation...

I imagine you are calling their bits for this as do other apps. The trouble is when an app starts with a device in portrait the device sometimes doesn't know where it is (what orientation) and the app gets confused until you remove the device from however it is mounted and do the hippy hippy shake .

Not only is it a PITA while driving, it looks so dang spastic to others who may see you do this.

An auto/landscape/portrait config option would be helpful if you know how the device is going to be used and you intend on using it that way for most of the time. Like mounting it in a holder or leaving it on a desktop on the kick stand.

From portrait; to get to a Status Bar app like Quick Launch or simple brightness requires three taps, to get back on square requires 2... I'm lazy

In my perfect world a long press on any screen in any app would slide out the Status Menu. It wouldn't matter if this menu slid out in landscape orientation while the app or device was in portrait mode as the functions could still be used.

But (sigh), that's in my perfect world

If the command to invoke this slide out action is known a button on your drop down menu would reduce the round trip finger inputs from 5 to 2. The timing needed to get both to return to an inactive state though would be very tricky I would imagine.
