I didn't mention the Sony-Ericssons I've used because they were so forgetable - I forgot about them.

Brand avoidance is the inverse of buying by brand. Both narrow the universe of acceptable solutions and both have their origins in our experience with devices.

HTC does look to be putting out some amazing things. I also see amazing stuff, like the N900, coming from Nokia. You make a good point that looking beyond the label to the device behind it is the best way to go. I don't know if I could get comfortable enough with a different brand to the point of dropping the dinero I spend on a Nokia
