Yeah, Kindle charger is basically a charger with a USB port on it. I know it is one of the few USB chargers that do work with the N900, while this probably means that Nokia charger should work with Kindle too I just wanted to confirm someone actually tried this. From time to time my n900 does not respond to the wall charger until I unplug and replug it.

That happened again just now. The display stayed dark and the LED did not light. For the first time I decided to open the keyboard. That made the display light up to show a dialog that a computer had been plugged in and asked me to choose PC Suite or USB mode and that current mode is charge only.

I exited the menu, but neither the battery icon or LED showed charging. lshal said charging=false. Unplugging from the wall and back in did nothing.

I gave up and shortened the life of the USB socket one more cycle and unplugged and replugged the USB.
