Hey guys i found a program called Set CPU for android which lets you to set the minimum and maximum CPU frequencies for NITdroid. This is very useful, because it saves a lot of battery and cools down the n900 ( if you have used NITdroid, you probably noticed the device getting unusually hot)

This app roots the phone automatically, at least it did for me. it also allows you to overclock.
