What codec to choose, what frame set, what is sampling freq and what to choose etc.

Unfortunately my laptop I use to convert with super video has gone for repairs so can't give you a solid answer.

I think I use something like 800x480 resolution, mpg, h.264, mp3. I could be talking rubbish though but that's as far as my memory can offer.
