Another way to be sure it will work is using an existing .desktop as base
Try opening x-term and type

sudo gainroot
cd /usr/share/applications
cp image-viewer.desktop image.desktop
leafpad image.desktop

Then edit the file and remove all you don't need (comment, mime and all x-.... entries)
