oh, if you have a lot of photos it should still load fast. you are using "Photos" right? It has a cache of thumbnails, it should be almost instant unless there is a problem reading some of them. try to check your memory card for errors, or try to copy all images from DCIM to your hard drive, maybe some cannot be read.
