Still, better late than never, I guess.
I don't know. I mean--it looks to me as if PalmOS was whipped up in very short time from all the spare parts, widgets and junk left over from Palm's attempts at doing SOMETHING with Linux and even their FIRST iteration looks far more polished and smoother than Maemo ever was, and probably better than MeeGo will be. What a goddam shame. I was really, really hoping SOMEONE with money and power would take that "open source" ball on a mobile platform and run with it the way Red Hat did in the enterprise space... but Nokia has been one incredible disappointment after another and I fear that it's painted my outlook on MeeGo as bleak and cynical despite all the positive things I've read. I feel it in my core that Nokia is going to do SOMETHING awful to what might otherwise be an excellent project.

By contrast, Android took what I at first thought was garbage and turned it around and impressed me. They've also managed to open up quite a LOT more than Maemo ever did, even with the Linux kernel forking fiasco. That really says a lot about the boat that Maemo permitted itself to miss.
