Sorry for the late answer.
What does "stop" exactly mean? Note that for tracking there is no limit in speed since only a series of locations is recorded. There are some (to me known) problems with the charts where chart dimension calculation results into a internal busy loop maiing the application hang. Is this possibly what you are seeing. Else speed is handled as a double internally so this should not make any problem.
Drawing a map is difficult as there is no build in solution on the device for map drawing in applications. I'm however also the author of libosmscout (libosmscout.sf.net) withallows for offline map drawing (and routing) so integration of a map in in fact a long term goal. But this may take a while.
Note that I clearified the problem with "gkuenning" about the *.kml file format and it seems that GPSJinni is right and there was a bug in the tool that read the generated *.kml files.
Btw., the version in extras-devel has a (far) better compass and I soon will release a new version that also offers *.gpx export.
