What i am looking for is a phone that has great multitasking(nokia has never let me down in that prospect.. but i dont think there is a task switcher which shows which applications are running now on android that allows switching between them easily like nokia on android or is there??)... a good keyboard(i have big fingers) and good support for videos and a decent memory capacity... (i like to carry a lot of videos and pics with me... ).. and a better battery life( used n97 of my friends for a week and loved the way it is energy efficient).. no probs between resistive touch or capacitive one coz both are comfortable for me...
I'm not sure if you are comfortable with battery-life of n900. Most users reporting charging every day, 2 days is you scarcely use it. But I would guess that would be okay if you're pleased by the n97.
For the rest: You will be pleased.

My advice: try to look for an Android phone that's cheaper, has a longer battery life and could be pleasing with the rest of your points. Some providers have an extra graphics layer above android, so maybe that gives you the right user experience regarding multi-tasking.

Main difference between maemo and android: maemo is more tweakable, more open to trying things out. If you like that idea, you will love the n900. My experience with Nokia hardware is it's quite sturdy and the details are right.

For example: the keys on the n900 keyboard aren't flat, this resolves pushing two buttons by accidence. Small detail, big effect.
