Can I just say that a 'right' is something that has to be acknowledged and upheld by the rest of society/community/government/legal system for it to mean something.

If you're born as mowgli and you live on your own in the wilderness, you wouldn't give a rat's behind about 'rights' (and wrongs) would you?

So, no, this isn't some natural 'God given' state that's bestowed upon all human being since the dawn of time.

it's definitely a human construct; something that reflects what the society at large (or the strongest lobbying parties?) deem to be appropriate to bestow on its members.
