I know this was not directed to me, but i played quite a lot with mce.ini not so far after i got my N900, and i edited it with my phone all the time and i was never ever able to corrupt it
my dear friend i tampered with the mce.ini before and to be honest when i wasnt sure of what im doing and just simply experementing i ended up losing an important feature
maybe you are an expert or just a guy who got lucky

but the info about the shades of the LED if great

well ill try my best to offer the best!

edit: the N900 can produce upto 7 colors with diffrent brightness or strength if i may say
these colors are: red purple yellow green blue babyblue white
