if you have a lock than the thief simply throws the turned off phone in the garbage and you never find it.

Oh i agree, i've wrestled with the two options. The code isn't really for anti-theft protection now (it was when i first got it because there were no alternatives) but now it's more for stopping people picking it up and rooting through my stuff, and part of also has that issue with it getting stolen - no point getting it back if in the meantime the thieving bastard has wiped everything or spread all my sensitive information far and wide. What'd be great is if SMSCON developed a feature like Wavesecure, where you can remotely lock it and get the best of both (or does it have that feature? like i said, the thread is so long and confusing it's the only reason i haven't installed it)
