You are trying to use dpkg in an Archlinux system? That doesn't make much sense...

Am I even in the ballpark with this or I'm not even in the same county? If you want to include something like "well, if you can't figure this out on your own, you shouldn't be using Arch in the first place", go ahead, I have a thick skin .
