So I finally caved and bought a Droid X, mainly because Mog.com did something to their stinky Flash interface that caused all playback to stall on "buffering".

So what do I think? For a gearhead like me, the n810 still kicks the Droid's *ss in terms of raw functionality. None of the Android email apps can even begin to hold a candle to Claws mail. And no, it's not limiting to have a "desktop" interface as opposed to a touch screen. Navigation is so much faster using the keyboard and scroll pad.

Maemo Mapper even compares favorably to the nav app on the Droid. I mean, it shows speed and altitude and a compass! :-)

Also, the commercial nature of the Android app store is perturbing. I installed an imap client and suddenly I was faced with a banner proclaiming that Laurie69 wanted to talk to me. I can totally see the potential to F up your device if you aren't careful.

The Droid's camera is amazing, video playback is amazing... Everthing is fast, of course, with a processor that's at least 3 times faster.

And I will probably change my tune slightly as I become more familiar with my Droid and root it -- I feel like I'm flying blind without a terminal and logs to peruse.

But I honestly do find my four n810s to be more functional in many respects.

Oh, and the Droid is actually a phone. ;-)
