Custom ringtone is not working not only when you change profile ringotne, but also when I turn vibration for profile ON/OFF. I use only "General" profile and I always turn vibration OFF when home, and put it ON when I am out. So two switches daily.
I assume any change in profile setting(not only ringtone) will stop MyContacts from playing custom tone.
