I was reading about the Playstation phone the other day and i was thinking, Nokia should revive the N-Gage brand and get big game companies to start releasing serious games to the N900 and upcoming MeeGo based gamephones and general use devices by Nokia. Make a N-Gage store to sell those games directly to owners of the devices, get a little commission for the sales (or rent for hosting the games or whatever), and control the quality of the games so being associated with the N-Gage brand is considered a badge of honor (while not closing the devices to homebrew and niche games).
Also, they should release a kickass N-Gage branded, MeeGo based, gamephone, analog inputs (yes, plural), plenty of ergonomic buttons etc; but preferably keeping the system similar enough to the N900 to allow the same games to be played on it as well (though in some cases it would probably be with slightly less details or not so ideal performance, and somewhat more awkward controls, that is if not using external input devices like bluetooth game controllers etc)
Btw, regarding buttons, don't stick with just the thumb, add some buttons behind so the remaining fingers need not to be idle just gripping.
ps:make sure to instruct the game companies to use open standards, let people install the games they legally acquire on devices by other brands that respect standards, this will be an added stimulus to make sure Nokia devices will be made with intention of being better than the competition increasing the odds Nokia fanboys will get superior hardware at a competitive price, also of course making Nokia look better in the eyes of the general consumer.
pps:don't screw it up, Nokia can't afford to give more reasons for once faithful customers to be disappointed with them
