I've also learn to delete large files directly from the Nokia menu. When I try from the Mac I lose the memory space I just erased. I then have to go and reformat the card in a digital camera that takes sdhc cards.
I learned from USB thumb drives that you need to empty the trash before you eject the device. It's really annoying as the deleted files don't show up in the trash, and I may not want to lose everything in the trash can just yet.
