To determine consumption, reboot once before. A reboot typically eats about one percent. So, reboot, read battery, reboot, back up, reboot, check battery.

Drops of over 20 percent are common with reboots and are false readings.

BM doesn't eat much, I backed up and restored 2-3 times a day with little problem. However, screen is lit, kbd as well, a compressed file system is bein read and decpmpressed, so power consumption is non-trivial.
