Yes, IM'ing is good. For me, I don't IM leisurely, but I suspect it would be a nice alternative to voice conversation when connections are slow.

No, I haven't ordered one yet. I'll probably realistically buy it closer to the holidays. Until then, I can dream, right? I'll probably wait to see what other deals are on the horizon and find a responsible retailer with a good warranty plan.
