It looks like according to wikipedia (

) the ID pin can be left unconnected. The only use for that would be for USB OTG.. I wonder if I can find where the ID pin is normally connected on the schematics...
Flashing the phone should be easy once you get the D+ and D- lines soldered down. Take pictures!
Other people may be interested in this too if their USB connector breaks later on down the line when the warranty expires. If mine broke and I had to resolder it, I'd probably use a miniusb plug, since almost everything I have is miniusb.
