Workaround is you need to start first MyContacts, close it, open fastSMS then should work by then. But when device is restarted/shutdown the said steps above needs to be redone.

I will double check but supposedly when FastSMS request a contact by sending a DBus message the "phone" will start mycontacts if it is not running already.
