I think the better question here is, how does Blackberry do tethering? Is it ad-hock WIFI tethering? AP WIFI tethering? Bluetooth PPP/SLIP tethering? Since we're clearly not Blackberry users, we have no idea. I can at least tell you that you can't connect via ad-hock WIFI tethering, at least. Android doesn't yet support ad-hock wifi tethering.

FYI: The Tab itself (at least my Verizon model) has an AP-like WIFI tether app that lets me tether other devices to its 3G bandwidth. This effectively lets my other devices think they're connecting to a plain, ordinary WIFI Access Point (AP).
