By using Dalvik Java VM, it become easier for app development. Android then get a big bang of apps. Actually, Nokia is noe doing exactly the same thing, but the tool is not VM, but Qt. So, Android using Dalvik is a wise decision to get apps quickly. And for Apps need more resource/efficiency, developers can use C to develpe the app directly, the efficiency is higher than Java.
