So i thought that i would give QMF mail client a try..
i did..
and it broke my modest.. now modest does not starts..

i've done the following :

remove qmf
remove modest using apt-get remove modest
remove modest using apt-get purge modest
then
install modest using apt-get install modest
i've even tired dpkg - i modest and all...it sets ups fine and installs fine..but when ever i open it.
Internal error : E-mail is closed.

Pls i dont want to reflash again...any other choice?
