i bought my wife an ipad recently and as shes brain dead when it comes to tech, im the one dealing with itunes, and filling the device with vids and stuff.
but ive noticed ipad apps need to be the HD versions or the x2 zoom makes them blurry, is this the same for android apps?
can i install anything from android app store or is the SGT apps in short supply?
can i root/hack/jailbreak the SGT and reject and future updates that would possibly lock me out of the os?

if i could get some info on those it would be great
I can't answer these with 100% certainty, but I'm pretty sure that you've little to worry about.

- Zooming on the 7" screen won't be like zooming on the iPad. Even with the same resolution, the increased pixel-density of the Tab screen will yield less blurriness. In other words, things are sharper on a smaller screen.

- You have full access to the market in the Tab. Apps that use the NDK (ie. games) tend to be more device specific, but the Tab has very good support.

- You can root the Tab very, very easily. Allowing you to do all sorts of interesting things. I don't know of too many custom ROMs at the moment, but it's one of those devices that will be supported by the community due to its popularity. I wouldn't at all be surprised if we saw a MeeGo port to the Tab in the future.

One thing to note: Flash on the Tab works well, but don't expect the performance of a PC. That said, some videos may not be as smooth (someone please help with their experiences).

On a somewhat related note: I hear that Adobe is doing gpu optimizations of the flash player on netbooks that offload most of the work onto the GPU (cpu utilization is near zero on these tasks). I expect that this type of optimization will make it to ARM devices as well, though it will take time.

Anyway, anyone with an actual Tab care to weigh in and help this nice fellow out?
