I see this as well. I've been saying it for quite some time. It's time that paper and pencil were replaced, and there's nothing holding the technology back other than a company with both sway and imagination (apparently in short supply). I think Apple will find a good usability angle and stun the world once again and leave the competition struggling to catch up.

The use cases are significant:
- whiteboard collaboration
- note taking
- art generation
- annotation

I would avoid using the device as a navigation aid, but if its uses are limited to these areas and does this well and released with a capable suite of software it will catch on.

I can see students, business people, children, really appreciating this feature.
