But code is not the only form of communication. If that's the case, outside of Linux, you would have been left in the dark for the last 15+ years for the most part.

However, as it stands, advertising and marketing have been around for quite a bit longer.

As this discussion goes, it's been established that we were talking about marketing and advertising... not source code. If that's the measure now - all of a sudden I might add - then I'll let you have that myopic conversation with somebody else.

Hardware unseen. Processor speed unknown. Release date unreleased. This level of lacking communication for an upcoming project that's supposedly "major"... unheard of.

Note that launching a product and sales release are different things. Nokia has not launched any MeeGo products yet, so you don't hear much about them - just like you don't hear much about iPhone5.
Give a month. We'll know more about the iPhone 5, iPad 2 or iWhatever X than we do know about the year long MeeGo process from a consumer standpoint - not this new developer only stance you've conveniently adopted.

I agree that Nokia should be more prompt in dismissing these WP7 / Android rumors, and do it in both plain-and-simple way (like Vanjoki), and in timely fashion.
But they're not. They haven't. And they will not. Dismissing rumors is a very low priority for any company - especially when they do no damage and are not what the company plans to do. I understand that fully. But to leave people in the dark for so long about the MeeGo based products - "it's a 2011 affair..." is all that's known. Oh... and despite a year or so of Intel involvement, those two goofy, pipe wrench cartoon-y fellows are still around on the home screen.

Progress indeed.

But hey, it's 2011, the year when all this speculation will come to an end. These discussions, while entertaining (for the first 7-8 times at least), are mostly a waste of time. Wait and see.
I predict more delays and continued lack of communication. Especially given who is supposed to be in charge of marketing... he communicates as clearly as a mudslide.

My opinion.
