It should not be that high when just charging.
I leave mine on charge for over 12 hours (24hrs last week - had no reception and forgot about it) and it never heats up, even on a hit 40+ degress (Celsius) day.

Check running applications.

See whats running, or use conky.
Uninstall pointless unused programs - Give it a good reboot (into power46) and see how it goes.
