You may have a point. The battery is non-user-replacable on iPhone's, so its sort of a downfall. But I think they use one of the better quality batteries in them, compared to lets say, Samsung.

However, my friends ~2yr old 3G still does a full day quite easily, so maybe the iPhones have that property (forgot its name) that helps reduce battery wear (only 10% loss in 5years, or something like that).
