Hi, I'm new on here but I've been following along since I got my n900 a year ago, and I have a few questions that I would really appreciate if someone could help me understand:

How do I enable iptables, preferably on reboot?

I have power kernel and the iptables package, but there is no file in /etc/init.d/ to start the service.

Is it possible to lock down the root account?
I've given the root account a password but it never asks for it when executing `sudo gainroot`.
Any application (or person) can gain root privileges whenever they please.
Doesn't this make the linux user/group permissions useless?

Thanks.
