That IS the custom kernel. 46-wl1 is the custom one. Regular v46 doesn't have the -wl1 prefix. When you donate, the stuff you get as a download includes a new kernel to flash. This is basically power46, with only a couple (I think just one change - a module compiled for it) changes. So there's no noticeable difference to the end user, honestly, it's got all the power46 features. BUT what change does exist is necessary. So you can't literally stick with v46, because if you do, the injection driver won't work (well, maybe someone who knows what they're doing can figure it out better than I can. I don't know this stuff nearly as well). However, the kernel included with the injection driver is basically the same kernel you'd have if you 'stuck with' v46, like I said.
