I'm quite tempted about getting a Palm Centro and the unlimited data plan from sprint which gives you speed where I live(Palm Beach Gardens FL) from 800kbps and up...As I understand to get the max speed when tethering a N800 with a cell you need BT 2.0 , the issue is that the Centro and most phones have BT 1.0 or 1.2. My question is what would it take to change from BT 1.2 to 2.0(on the cell) to get max speed, a hardware or software update?

In addition, what percentage of the speed is lost when tethering through BT 1.2? If possible share examples and stories.
