This way they pick up the early adoptors and the Xmas gift market. I'm tempted too but if Nokia hasn't released the 810 by month's end I will just sit on my hands a bit longer and see what all the hoopla is going to be at Macworld. I want to see some reviews on this also to see if it matches expectations. Is the GPS any good?- A slow GPS is not worth wasting time on.
Will Nokia put it's new screen vibration feedback technology in the 810 and why not?
Will there be enogh new apps available to make it usefull? Shells, directory utils, text readers and ports of C64 programs don't count - how many of those do you need anyway?
There are always rumors of apple releasing something. I would like to see what they come up with. As for the haptic feedback I think that has been answered elsewhere. (no, maybe on the 900) Why they aren't you would have to ask a Finn in the know. If there aren't enough apps for your tastes then code some. As for the GPS, it will meet most of my needs as I want to use this on my motorcycle to keep track of my routes to and from customer sites, track mileage and if things work out correctly take advantage of the location awareness feature. I am not a developer by any stetch of the imagination, but I can with the help of some friends that are cobble something together that does what I want it to. Not a game player so that is not something that I need. You can see some early reviews of preprod units at sites mentioned in this post http://www.tablet-guru.com/2007/10/n.../#comment-2499
I didn't see the need to jump on me to try and make your point. I am a fan of technology and gadgets. I buy them to play with them. Some I end up putting to some use if they make my cut, the others I give to people that have a use for them. Thats me. I would have liked to see Nokia Take a bit longer to come to market with a new tablet that had many of the features you are talking about,. I would also like to see them dedicate some time and resources to advertising and marketing, which in my ignorant opinion would do much towards getting these to sell better.
