By "arbitrary update intervals" do you mean any amount of seconds? There are some options in the settings already (check it out), I plan to add others to update less often. That's exactly the idea, there's even an option (disabled for now) in the settings to allow that. I assumed the device is power efficient for the update intervals that can be set by default (and that are already available in the settings). I don't think if a program request an update every 2 minutes the GPS will be on all the time but only every two minutes. For bigger update intervals, like 30 min, I'll have to handle that by myself, because it's not "natively" available. Right now I'm trying to solve the high memory usage by moving out the gui code from the daemon. Then I'll address the connections, make it not connect, only update when already connected.
