Indeed. Presumably Nokia have a "pipeline" of devices under constant development.

All that may have happened is that a finished but unreleased device (RM-680) has been skipped due to it missing it's "window of opportunity" and the next device along would now be moved up to replace it. This is how I would expect a nimble and adept company to operate, and the device that has been shelved could still be re-used in future for a lower tier product/OS in order to recoup some of the development cost/investment.

Of course, Nokia could still plough ahead with the now obsolete RM-680 design, but they'll be losing a lot more than they save as the mediocre processing platform could undermine the whole thrust of MeeGo.

Hopefully Elop will bring some sanity and rationalisation to the organisation and make it see sense - MeeGo will only succeed with top notch software AND top notch hardware, without compromise in either area. Sadly the RM-680 hardware doesn't cut it any more.
