A good range of decent devices with the same OS (or two OSes if you wish, bound by Qt).

I know nobody here pays attention to me when I rant about DEVICES, because many people here are developers and care more about software. But, this is putting the carriage in front of the horse. Hardware always comes first. N900 alone doesn't cut it.
I do actually agree with this. I like the n900 because of the hardware (good screen, fantastic memory, good camera, "toys" like IR port, etc).

I spend 1/2 my time booted into Android, where much (although sadly) not "All" of the hardware works.

I do realize that it's a specialist device (too thick/heavy, too unpolished, weak phone features). But, more than any device on the market, I feel like it embodies the direction phones are moving in (as very small portable computers).

So, I just wanted to say you're not the only one paying attention to the hardware and thinking Nokia needs to do the same.
