If you're just trying to get the phone number, install what is mentioned here and just run the command mentioned in a Desktop Command Exec/Queen Beecon Widget (edit: you may have to perform wizardry with sed/awk/cut etc.). If you're trying to get other information, I think the vCard is stored in GConf
