Numbers in the original article don't quite add up. The Bernstein's breakdown chart says the whole group's spending is 2,9 B + 0,4 B + 2B = 5,3 B but the article says that the R&D spend is 3,9 B? Devices and services R&D spend, the one comparable with those other companies is 2,9 B. Did the guy doing the article accidentally add an extra billion to Nokia's figure or what? Well, makes for a more scandalous chart..

On a related note, if you listened to the earnings call Q&A the CFO said they're going to temporarily spend more on sales&marketing than R&D in relative terms.
