Hmm. The n900 is perfect as a regular phone (not awkward at all!), but is somewhat awkward for simply taking notes. I love my n900, and I do take notes with it, but mainly in situations where carrying a large piece of electronics is too cumbersome. I also have a second-hand HP netbook, and let me tell you the HP has an unbelievably comfortable keyboard for such a small device.

For taking notes in a classroom, honestly, a decent netbook will serve you better (and be much less expensive) than any of the current handheld devices out there.
