The Gartner stats concern ALL Symbian sales (so including rather a lot of feature phones) whilst the Canalys report specifically references smartphones only - as Elop also makes clear in his statement.

As for the 'rubbishing' of the iPhone part - Elop is not talking about handset features, he's talking about the ecosystem (to use his own words from other parts of the memo). He's essentially saying that Nokia Smartphone + Ovi Store does not compare with iPhone + App Store
