I have downloaded and installed the N800 version of Garnet VM on my N800.
I installed the Palm Desktop on my Win XP Laptop and synchronised all my existing data and apps off/from my trusty Tungsten E using Local USB Hotsync
Then I switched the desktop Hotsync option to accept network connections and tried to synchronise the data off my PC onto my N800.
I am pleased to say with a little bit of customisation tweaking of the Hotsync options for data transfer I seem to have successfully transfered all data and apps to the N800.
Obviously not every program installed on my Tungsten E works in the Garnet VM but I am surprised about how many apps seem to work with little effort.
Need more time to test apps, will provide further feedback if anyone is interested. I still have lots of contact and notes on my Tungsten E from years of use, so its nice to have a backup on my N800. For those who want data off their Palms onto their Internet Tablets this might be a good option?
I note that this beta version of Garnet software for the N800 will expire on May 31st 2008.
---edit--- I really don't know how stable this Garnet VM software is at emulating a Palm and I have ensured that all my existing Palm data is fully backed up on my Tungsten E and main PC. Playing with copied data and software between Laptop and N800 to see how stable it really is.
