What can be that other application synchronizing the contacts? Can you give me an idea so I can see what can be causing the problem?
Let's try something:
  1. reboot your phone
  2. find one contact that does not work on mycontacts (that the phone is not recognized as cell when it should)
  3. go to the "standard contacts" application, select the contact, select "send contact card" from the menu.
  4. send the contact card to your email address.
  5. on your email application save the attached vcf file somewhere and open it with a text editor
  6. edit the contact, change the phone type to "something else" and then back to "cell"
  7. send the contact card to your email
  8. compare the two files
  9. reboot the phone
  10. send the same contact to your email
  11. compare the 3 files.

Feel free to send me the 3 files for me to check.
