I use Treo 650 in combination with N800, so loading the Garnet Virtual Machine is primarily a matter of curiosity. Hot Synch failed, but the version of Palm Desktop on this particular PC is probably an older one. I will have an opportunity to try a newer version later in the week.
GVM includes the older Datebook and Address applications, rather than the Calendar and Contacts programs included with curent Palm OS versions. However the Treo still generates backwards compatible Datebook and Address databases. I transferred Datebook, Address and Memo databases plus a few applications from Treo to N800 using an SD card. The data was accepted correctly, and the apps installed fine.
Now I can HotSynch Datebook, Address and Memo data with PC, but process still fails when PC tries to backup other applications installed in GVM.
ToDo application is not included in the GVM. I borrowed a copy from the ROM of a Sony Clie UX50. It installed and starts, but does not run correctly. The GVM will not let me delete it.
Be aware that if you change the size of the GVM memory allocation (default 16MB) all data and add-on applications are lost. Starting over I realized that I could use Bluetooth to transfer files from Treo to N800. The GVM does not seem to be aware of Bluetooth, but files can be received into the N800's own file system and then installed the same as if they were on SD card.
