Heh that sounds very familiar to me
Here in the Netherlands I got the same awnser for my bright spot problem, it will have the same spot on the same position in about 2 months. But I sended it to Nokia Care and they replaced the lcd panel. But the freaky part was, after two months the brightspots came back! They were right!

Resended the thing for the second time back to Nokia care, what did they do? A software update to fix the problem.... FAIL. So again my N900 is @ Nokia care being repaired, at least I think its being repaired.
